Mullen Lowe Winston‐Salem Wins the Lottery

North Carolina Education Lottery Selects Mullen Lowe Winston‐Salem as Advertising Agency of Record

WINSTON‐SALEM, N.C., June 11, 2015 — Following a nearly three-month competitive review, the North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) has selected the Winston-Salem office of Mullen Lowe as its new advertising agency of record. A leader in strategic marketing initiatives, Mullen Lowe Winston-Salem will provide creative advertising and media services to the NCEL.

“The N.C. Education Lottery now raises more than half a billion dollars a year to support important education programs in North Carolina,” said Alice Garland, Executive Director of the lottery. “That kind of financial performance for any business depends on strong sales, and strong sales come from effective advertising and marketing programs. Mullen Lowe Winston-Salem has effectively demonstrated its ability to create excitement around our games while simultaneously bringing to life the benefits the lottery provides to our state. We believe that with Mullen Lowe’s help, the lottery can continue its record of growing sales and earnings each year for North Carolina.”

“We're extremely proud of the insightful and inspired work that we delivered during the agency review process,” said Mullen Lowe Winston-Salem President Taylor Bryant. “And we're thrilled to have the opportunity to apply that same strategic thinking and creativity to develop solutions for the NCEL that will help it continue to grow its support for the state education system.”

“As we immersed ourselves in their business, we quickly found countless creative ways that we can make the lottery play a unique part of the North Carolinian lifestyle,” said Jason Black, Executive Creative Director at Mullen Lowe Winston‐Salem. “Now comes the fun part. We get to bring our ideas to life in a way that promotes not only the excitement of play but also the benefits it provides to teachers, students and families in our state. We get to do what we love while giving back to the community. It doesn't get much better than that.”

The relationship will involve integrated marketing initiatives, including strategic planning and market research, traditional and digital creative advertising services, media planning and buying, social media, public relations, event marketing, Web development, performance analytics and more — taking advantage of the full breadth of Mullen Lowe service offerings. By selecting Mullen Lowe Winston-Salem, the NCEL taps into the regional expertise of a successful in‐state agency with the extensive resources of Mullen Lowe U.S. and the Interpublic Group (IPG) network.

This win represents continued growth at Mullen Lowe U.S. on the heels of the agency's recent merger as well as multiple new business announcements, including ADP, Scotts Miracle‐Gro and Royal Caribbean.

Who We Are

We Are Agents of Transformation

CHANGING CONSUMER BELIEFS, EXPECTATIONS AND BEHAVIORS
Too often brands are defined by false perceptions and misinformation. We engage. We inform. We motivate. We build meaningful connections and relationships with customers, prospects and key influencers — turning brand naysayers into brand evangelists.
SPARKING CONVERSATIONS, ORGANIZATIONS AND COMMUNITIES
In our digitally dynamic and socially connected world, building brand trust and advocacy is a bit of a balancing act; your current customers have a lot to say. It’s critical that we listen, understand and actively influence the dialogue.
LEAP-FROGGING THE COMPETITION
Stealing share is one thing. Knocking the competition back on their heels is another. We push ourselves to deliver solutions for our clients that keep the other guys scrambling to catch up.
GAME-CHANGING CATEGORIES
We look at the existing framework for a business. We dive into marketplace realities and competitive dynamics. The end game? Create opportunities previously unseen.
DRIVING BRAND CONVICTION
It’s no longer enough to focus just on acquisition. We help drive profitability by constantly inventing new ways of keeping our clients’ current customers happy, engaged and coming back for more.
PUSHING THE LIMIT OF WHAT’S POSSIBLE
We start every day by asking one simple question: What if?

Hyperbundled, hyper-relevant

Mullen NC provides leading-edge, integrated services. We work closely together to help brands navigate the complex, constantly evolving marketing ecosystem in ways they never imagined.

We’re unbound in the way we work. We tore down the walls between strategic planning, creative, digital, public relations, social influence, media, mobile, direct response and performance analytics. It’s what allows us to remain hyper-relevant in an extremely competitive world, faced with an explosion of media choices and consumers in control.
